New Year, New Growth
The British Asian Trust celebrated a winning year in 2010 with growth and achievements paving the way for further exciting progress in 2011. 2010 saw the Trust supporting 11 high-impact charities in South Asia and the UK. Charity: Meeting Needs of Mumbai's Children
Reaching out to 150,000 children, Trust charity partner Mumbai Mobile Crèches (MMC) has been running child care centres on the construction sites where their parents work since 1972. “Trust support has enabled us to continue our work for children who might not otherwise have access to education, health care or even just a safe space,” says MMC director Vrishali Pispati. When it comes to investing, Raj and Priyanka Gill have the highest expectations. Beneficiaries: Daksha & Bhavesh log on to livelihoods
Four months after his marriage to Daksha, Bhavesh Sagathiya fell four stories from a building he was painting. When he emerged from a coma two months later, he regained his health, but lost his livelihood. With support from Trust partner Saath, Bhavesh and Daksha are both enrolled in vocational training courses that will lead to employment in the computer industry… and a promising future.
Two New Ambassadors Support the Trust
Two new ambassadors from the worlds of music and cuisine are on board. Conquering the UK music scene with his unique style, Mumzy Stranger has signed on to support the Trust along with celebrity chef Sriram Ayul of London's award-winning Quilon Restaurant.
Experience an Indian Musical Adventure
Witness Britain's First National Orchestra for Indian Music on 6th March at 5 p.m. at London's Southbank Centre.
